He has studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Opera, and was the first student to graduate with a Ph.D from Norwegian Academy of Music.<\/p>\n<p>On his record &#8216;Solefall&#8217; Vollestad interprets  both Norwegian and European folk tunes, arranged for baryton, strings, oboe, harp and organ.
