Here, the distinguished violinist Per Enoksson performs all three of them, accompanied by the seasoned pianist Maria Nyberg. Brahms\u00b4 First Violin Sonata in G major is unaffectedly lyrical in mood being comparatively modest in its instrumental demands. His next violin sonata, however, hardly resembles the G major in any of its structural details, but certainly emulates in lyrical character. It is indeed the most idyllic of the three sonatas. In contrast, the D minor sonata is a turbulent and passionate utterance, reminiscent of the composer\u00b4s Sturm und Drang-period of his youth.
