Energetic and traditional violin folk from the Norwegian westcoast<\/p>\n
The recording consists of traditional music from the west coast of Norway and recently composed pieces by the members of the group. The Hardanger fiddle and folk music by Liv Merete Kroken and Sigrid Moldestad provide the basis of the recording, though this time Spindel have included some vocal material, such as a Norwegian version of Sandy Denny\u2019s Old Fashioned Waltz.<\/p>\n

Aminje is an old Norwegian colloquial expression meaning \u201dto rest the memory\u201d.<\/p>\n
Liv Merete Kroken and Sigrid Moldestad met as students at the Ole Bull Academy (1996-98). They enjoyed playing as a duo, while at the same time developing their skills as solo performers. Both have their musical roots in Nordfjord in Sogn og Fjordane county in west Norway. They play both Hardanger fiddle and normal fiddle, though Liv Merete Kroken has specialized on the Hardanger variant, and Sigrid Moldestad on the other. They have studied with Norway\u2019s leading folk music performers. Their many projects include collaborations with Palestinian musicians, choirs, rock, joik, pop, theatre etc. Some of these projects have been particularly well received, such as Fj\u00f8gl (with Unni L\u00f8vlid).<\/p>\n
In May 2001 they released the CD Spindel (Grappa\/Heilo), on which they play with the same muscians as on Aminje: Olav Tveitane (guitar\/cisster\/double-bass), Dagfinn Andersen (harmonium\/piano) and Ivar Kolve (percussion).<\/p>\n
