Three years after her successful world music album \u201cKhoom Loy\u201d was released, she is now presenting a long-awaited new album. And the wait was not in vain. \u201cDrifting Like a Bird\u201d, her ninth album, is a cohesive and inspired studio version of a commissioned work with the same name that Annbj\u00f8rg composed for the North Sea Festival in Farsund in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Annbj\u00f8rg has chosen an exciting group of musicians to collaborate with. They include both musicians she has worked with for many years and a few new acquaintances: the Irish singer and multi-instrumentalist Cathy Jordan (Dervish), vocalist and performance artist Tori Wr\u00e5nes, Swedish cellist Anders L\u00f6fberg (Nordic, Majorstuen), Swedish guitarist Roger Tallroth (V\u00e4sen), keyboardist Bj\u00f8rn Ole Rasch and drummer Rune Arnesen. <\/p>\n<p>Here she presents a collection of powerful songs about life at sea and on land around the North Sea Basin. Annbj\u00f8rg worked systematically: before writing the music she interviewed sailors and seamen to collect stories and impressions. It is easy to hear that the project has been inspiring for composer and lyricist Lien.<\/p>\n<p>Musically the album has a wide range: from the gem of a folk-pop song \u201cSette segl\u201d to dynamic instrumental pieces, to the epic \u201cPeter &amp; Angelos\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4>Annbj\u00f8rg &#8211; the singer<\/h4>\n<p>Annbj\u00f8rg has sung on previous records, but as an exception rather than a rule. On \u201cDrifting Like a Bird\u201d she sings on a number of the songs. \u201cI\u2019ve always been very satisfied being an instrumentalist, but gradually I became curious about how I could use my voice,\u201d she explained in a recent interview. \u201cI\u2019ve listened to American musicians who accompany themselves on the fiddle and sing at the same time.
