Tr\u00f8ndelag is an area of extremley complex traditions, where a great variety of forms, genres and types of folk music converge. On this compilation, some of the most spellbinding music of the area is collected and presented. With regard to instrumental music, the ordinary fiddle, rather than the Hardanger fiddle, dominates. Even though the fiddle tradition disappeared almost completely in some districts due to the religious revivals of the second half of the 1800s, most districts have had a fiddle tradition present well into the 20th century. However, the fiddle is not the only instrument represented on this compilation \u2013 other important instruments within the folk musical tradition of Tr\u00f8ndelag, such as bukkehorn and Mer\u00e5ker clarinett, as well as the areas rich song traditions, are presented here. <\/p>\n
