Soprano Siri Torjesen studied at the Grieg Academy and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Throughout her 30-year career she has been an eminent performer of modern vocal music and her repertoire includes a host of works by contemporary composers. Soprano Siri Torjesen studied at the Grieg Academy and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Throughout her 30-year career she has been an eminent performer of modern vocal music and her repertoire includes a host of works by contemporary composers. She has been involved in performances for radio and TV, CD recordings, concerts and stage productions in many European countries.

Torjesen has recorded Arne Nordheim’s vocal music with BIT20, Complete Songs by Fartein Valen with Håkon Austbø and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Christian Eggen and Sven-David Sandström’s The High Mass with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and conductor Herbert Blomstedt for Deutsche Grammophon. In 2003 she recorded Håkon Berge’s Voices and Drums, and in 2005 the opera Nokon kjem til å komme by Jon Fosse and Knut Vaage was released on CD with Siri Torjesen in one of the leading roles.

In 2010 followed the CD Den syvende himmelretning featuring music by Edvind Østergaard, for which Torjesen was nominated for the Spellemannprisen. She was awarded the performer of the year award by the Norwegian Society of Composers in 1996 for her long standing effort for modern vocal music, and in 1999 she received the Oslo City Artist Award.
