Song and tradition is a central aspect in Inger Lises` life. She creates closeness and love in her songs by singing in her own dialect and New Norwegian. This spring she is releasing her sixth solo album. This time the album consists of duets with different artists from Norway. Among the duet partners on the album are: Sondre Bratland, Thom Hell, Trygve Skaug, Olav Stedje, Kirsten Bråten Berg, Kim Andre Rysstad, Fjellfolk, Stein Roger Sordal and others.

Duet album from Inger Lise Stulien

She has composed songs together with her regular guitarist through 15 years, Knut Kjetil Møen. Her musical landscape is in the folk-pop-genre, with hints of country, roots and traditional music. Among the duet partners on the album are: Sondre Bratland, Thom Hell, Trygve Skaug, Olav Stedje, Kirsten Bråten Berg, Kim Andre Rysstad, Fjellfolk, Stein Roger Sordal and others. Her father, Arthur Stulien, plays an accordion solo on a song she has written as a tribute to her safe childhood. This solo is the last piece he got to record before he died, 91 years old. All of her siblings are singing on this song, “Minnebok”.

Writer and composer

Inger Lise writes most of the lyrics herself, and also several of the melodies. She has composed songs together with her regular guitarist through 15 years, Knut Kjetil Møen. Her musical landscape is in the folk-pop-genre, with hints of country, roots and traditional music. She is inspired by the seasons which is evident in her texts. Several of the lyrics originate from her own life, while other texts are based on experiences friends and acquaintances shares with her, stories from everyday life which makes an impression. The songs stretch from light-hearted and happy to melancholic, beautiful love songs. With themes as sorrow, longing and wistfulness. Both lyrics and melodies have a warm tone where gratitude and happiness are central. Her songs reflect both the good and the bad days in life.

A long line of cooperation’s

Among the duet partners on the album are: Sondre Bratland, Thom Hell, Trygve Skaug, Olav Stedje, Kirsten Bråten Berg, Kim Andre Rysstad, Fjellfolk, Stein Roger Sordal and others. The recording took place in Kongshavn Studio, with Bjørn Ole Rasch as producer. In the past, she has also toured with Jan Engervik with songs by Taube and Theodorakis, and she has also done a recording with Alexander Rybak on fiddle. She did a duet with Bobby Bare during Breim Countrytreff on the main stage a few years back as well.

Målblomen

Inger Lise comes from Byremo in Audnedal, Vest Agder county, but she is now living in lower Setedal, Aust Agder. She has received “Målblomen” by Noregs Mållag, for her use of Nynorsk in her songs. Singing has always been an important part of her life. The first time she sang on Sørlandssendingen she was only four years old. She is the youngest of her seven siblings, where her father played the accordion and Inger Lise and her siblings came with and entertained on different events throughout her childhood and adolescence.
