This CD takes us back to the beginning of his career. Already as a sixteenyearold Bjørnstad made his debut as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra in the University Hall in Oslo, and it is a historic recording of this concert that is now available on CD. It was a concert that obviously was an important milestone in Bjørnstad’s career, but also a concert that caused a sensation in its time. It is an exciting and courageous young performer who here gives us interpretations of the music of Bartok, Debussy and Ravel. "It was absolutely amazing to see such insight into a challenging matter, here was a healthy and extremely strong instinct that cleared the way with course entitled" wrote Oslo newspaper Aftenposten´s reviewer after the concert.

The recording of the concert was done by NRK, but since the original tape has been lost, this release is based on a restored and remastered recording of the transmission.

The publication gives us an exciting encounter with a young classical performer who would later choose other musical avenues.
