Shimmering strings

Composition has been a priority with Terje Bjørklund since 1980, with the emphasis on serious art music. Harmony is fundamental to many of his works, and the nuances in the variation of chords and sounds often evokes assosiations with modern jazz. He has written a number of compositions for choir, orchestra and various solo- and chamber music combinations. A particular preference for strings is evident in his work, perhaps reflecting the rich string milieu found in Trondheim. Terje Bjørklund was born in Narvik, Norway in 1995. Upon receiving his Master’s Degree in Musicology from the University of Oslo in 1971, he studied composition with Finn Mortensen at the Norwegian State Academy of Music (1971-1973). He has worked at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music since 1973, as professor of composition and music theory.
